I truly enjoy working with people. I consider it a blessing to have the skills to assist a global clientele to overcome negative internal dialogue or unresourceful patterns. The patterns which may be for years and finally coaching them by equipping them with practical tools to hold themselves in a position of great regard is beyond monetary compensation. When working with clients during the first session, I always ask the most fundamental question “if 0 is low and 10 is high, how sincerely motivated are you to change your pattern or behavior for the long term?”
Based on their answer, we can either move forward with the session, or I honestly ask them if their reply is a 5 or 6 what would it take to move them to a 10? The usual response is “I don’t know”. So, I explain that Neuro Linguistic Programming is a tool that can be used to reprogram negative beliefs or unresourceful inner movies or self-talk that may have been going on for years. If they are committed to changing the pattern. I am quite frank in telling them that the patterns did not occur overnight, and it may be possible that one session is not a cure-all. But if they are committed to change their actions from negative or unproductive to productive and resourceful, I am willing to work with them to pull back the layers and do the work necessary to successfully accomplish their desired results. One of my top 5 unresourceful states is laziness so I thought I might expand on how Neuro Linguistic Programming can assist in being more productive long term.
Here are some ways in which NLP principles can potentially help you overcome laziness:
- Setting Well-Defined Goals: NLP emphasizes the importance of setting clear and specific goals. By defining what you want to achieve and breaking it down into smaller, more manageable tasks, you can make it easier to overcome laziness.
- Changing Limiting Beliefs: NLP techniques can help identify and change limiting beliefs that might be contributing to laziness. By replacing negative self-talk with positive affirmations, you can create a more motivating internal dialogue.
- Visualizations and Mental Rehearsal: NLP often incorporates visualization techniques. By vividly imagining yourself completing tasks and experiencing the positive outcomes, you can enhance your motivation and reduce laziness.
- Anchoring Positive States: NLP involves the concept of “anchoring,” where you associate a specific physical or mental state with a particular behavior. You can create anchors for motivation and energy to use when you need to overcome laziness.
- Reframing: NLP encourages reframing negative situations into more positive ones. When faced with a task you find boring or difficult, reframing it in a way that emphasizes the benefits or positive aspects can make it more appealing.
- Language Patterns: Pay attention to the language you use, both internally and externally. Using positive and empowering language can influence your mindset and help combat laziness.
- Modeling Success: NLP suggests learning from successful individuals. Identify people who are highly motivated and productive, and model their behavior to incorporate similar strategies into your own life.
